Why would you let a number make you decide on how you should feel about yourself? You step on a scale and you see a “good” number, we are trained to feel happy, excited, and good about ourselves. When you step on a scale and it gives us a “bad” number we feel discouraged, upset, and disappointed in ourselves. For too long I let a number on a scale determine my “health” and myself-worth. But I also did this to clients. UGH! Why!? Because that is what I was trained and educated to do. The number on the scale CAN give some data, but it doesn’t give you the entire health profile of someone.
At 100lbs or 300lbs you are still the same person. A smaller number doesn’t make you healthier, and a bigger number doesn’t make you unhealthy, but this is what we have been taught to believe.
30lbs lighter than I am now, I thought and the doctors reassured me, that I was the healthiest I had ever been ( because I had dropped so much weight...). But remember what I told you about my period going MIA (610 days and counting), that was a HUGE sign I was NOT healthy. And then the blood work that I had done that also told me I had completely damaged my thyroid and all my hormones. That was what I needed to pay attention too.But we have been brainwashed to believe a number determines your health and it just doesn’t.
How do you feel?
How are your hormones?
What does your bloodwork tell you?
How are your workouts?
Are you seeing strength gains?
THESE will tell you more than that number will!
Stop stepping on the scale every day, and stop letting that number or the number you WANT TO SEE rule your life. Its not worth it. It really isn’t. Instead start to do things to focus on feeling better and getting stronger during your workouts. That means eat what works for YOU and workout the amount that’s right for you.
I am here to guide you and be your support system. I have your back and always will.
Please don’t go into this New Year with a crazy diet and a million workouts. Your body will back fire. Just start to do the things you know make you feel good.
I am looking forward to this year and working towards strengthening our minds and bodies.
